Fleas
Fleas are more than just unsightly pests, they can cause real problems for your cats and dogs. Fleas not only cause itchiness and skin irritation that can lead to secondary infections, if ingested they can also lead to intestinal parasite infections. Fleas can spread through feral cats and numerous wildlife-even if your pet doesn't come into direct contact with them.
Dogs are not the only pets that can have fleas. Even inside only cats have the potential of coming into contact. Cats are constant groomers, so feline flea issues are not always apparent. In fact, an irritable or overgrooming cat may be evidence of a flea issue.
One female flea has the ability to lay 40-50 eggs per day, up to 2,000 eggs in her lifetime. Evidence of one flea can be the beginning or sign of a bigger problem.
We offer several options for flea control as well as prevention of future infestations. Please call for more details.

Ticks
Ticks are natural carriers of many different diseases, including Lyme, Anaplasmosis, and Ehrlichiosis. These are best prevented through daily tick inspection (and removal) and the use of topical or oral preventatives. Hiking, camping, and traveling to tick borne disease hot spots all put your dog at risk. Please contact us today to discuss options for tick preventatives.
