Senior pet care

We have a special place in our hearts for Senior Pets.

Remember, pets age much faster than people do.  A 7-year old pet is actually entering their senior years.

We recommend twice yearly examinations, especially for senior pets.  A "Human Senior" will often schedule annual visits to the doctor.  Again, remembering that pet’s age differently, if you bring in your pet every 6 months, that is like you visiting the doctor every 3 years.  If you bring your pet in once a year, it’s like visiting the doctor every 6-7 years.  And a lot can happen in 6 years.

Thanks to advances in veterinary medicine, pets are living longer than ever before.  However, with this increased lifespan comes an increase in the types of ailments that can affect senior pets.  The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) has released the AAHA Senior Care Guidelines for Dogs and Cats to help veterinary hospitals provide optimal care for these aging companion pets.
