There are many choices available when you are making decisions regarding medical care for your family of pets. These choices involve many different levels, including quality of medical care, but also the short and long term price of medical care.
Yosemite Pet Hospital takes a long term approach to health care for your pets. We strive to provide you with the best information available, to help you make informed decisions on your pets health care needs.
One of the keys in keeping long term medical care costs down is to make sure you provide a healthy lifestyle for your pet, and to catch potentially serious and costly medical conditions before they become serious and costly.
Pet health care is very different from what we humans experience at a doctors office. Human medicine often treats symptoms or medical conditions that a person is experiencing at that specific moment. A patient explains to the Doctor what the problem is, and the Doctor puts a treatment plan into action to address that specific ailment.
However, your pet cannot explain what their specific ailments are. They do not have the ability to answer a general health questionnaire, or tell the Dr. that they are "feeling fine except for this problem I'm having with my ears".
This is why we place such a strong emphasis on providing "Preventative Health Care" for your pet. Each time you visit Yosemite Pet Hospital, we perform a comprehensive physical examination on your pet. We are looking for early signs of any medical or health problems that your pet may be exhibiting. Remember, pets age much faster than people do. A 7-year old pet is actually entering their senior years.
We also recommend twice yearly examinations, especially on Senior pets. A "Human Senior" will often schedule annual visits to the doctor. Again, remembering that pets age differently, if you bring in your pet every 6 months, that is like you visiting the doctor every 3 years. If you bring your pet in once a year, its like visiting the doctor every 6-7 years. And a lot can happen in 6 years.
You may notice that we schedule longer office calls than you may have experienced with other veterinary hospitals. We feel it is important to allow time for carefully examining your pet, and discuss the various treatment options available. It is important that you fully understand these options to help you make the right decisions for improving the healthy life of your companion.
The following pages provide details on our staff, the hospital we have built and the services we provide.
We appreciate the opportunity to help your pet enjoy a long and healthy life.
